A LETTER FROM MRS. OCB

A LETTER FROM MRS. OCB

Dear Oak Grove Students, Parents, and Community Members,

Welcome to the Oak Grove website.  I am pleased and honored to be the principal of Oak Grove Elementary School in Aliso Viejo.  Please take a few minutes to check our website and be sure to follow us on Twitter, Instagram and/or Facebook so you can stay up-to-date with Oak Grove’s news and activities.

A little about myself:  I am known around campus and CUSD as Mrs. OCB, but you may not know that I started my career in CUSD in 1988.  I taught third and fourth grades for many years at Moulton Elementary and was on the planning team to assist in the opening of Laguna Niguel Elementary in 2002.  Before being appointed as Oak Grove’s principal, I was an Assistant Principal for 15 months at Wood Canyon, Bathgate, and here at this site.  I am married (to another elementary principal in CUSD) with two children.  I am an avid reader and runner --I  recently completed my eighth marathon.

Oak Grove is a special place!  We are a three-time recipient of the California Distinguished School Award.  This award is a reflection of students who are excited about learning, dedicated and knowledgeable teachers and staff, a PTA and Foundation that work tirelessly to provide enriching programs & activities, and a community that supports education.

Additionally, Oak Grove has amazing programs and activities.  These include (just to name a few):
  • The Pacific Symphony Class Act Grant
  • Spatial-Temporal (S-T) Math Program
  • Yearlong Music Instruction for all grade levels
    • K-1:  Introduction Lessons
    • 2-3:  Keyboarding Instruction
    • 4-5: CUSD Block Music Program
  • Fifth Grade Outdoor Education (4 days/3 nights science camp)
  • Kids Run OC Marathon
  • Turkey Trot
  • The All-Star Bash
  • Summer Reading & Math Challenge Program

Oak Grove has a baseball theme.  Students and staff wear baseball jerseys and the multi-purpose room is decorated with teachers’ favorite teams; however, the best part of the baseball theme is the firm belief that we (students, parents, staff, and community members) are a team –a team that works together for the success of all.

Sincerely,
Principal
